After successful sea trials, M.V. Reestborg was delivered to Wagenborg shipping on March 14th 2013. This ship is the largest ship ever built at Ferus Smit shipyards, and the largest ship in the Wagenborg fleet. For detailed data see our product sheet.

During her seatrials ‘Reestborg’ clearly showed that her innovative concept is not ‘another green fairytale’. The combination of the characteristic newly developed ‘bulbless’ bow with negative stem profile propelled by a large slow running propeller in a duct, showed an impressive test speed of 15 knots on the clocks at full power (4350 kW). At the same time very low noise levels makes her a comfortable ship to work on, while maneuvering went excellent despite her huge dimensions.

The real proof of the pudding came last week at Reestborg’s first loaded trip between Hargshamn (Sweden Baltic coast) and Hamburg. Loaded with 16500 tons of iron ore and a draft of 8 mtrs she was put to the test. Her speed topped at 14.5 kts, with which she exceeds her expectations.

We congratulate Wagenborg shipping with her new flagship, and wish M.V. Reestborg and her sailors many safe journeys for the years to come.
